Build My Vehicle

Build Your Mitsubishi at Jeff Schmitt Mitsubishi in Fairborn, OH

Not every shopper finds the right vehicle sitting on the lot. Sometimes it's a specific trim with a specific interior. Sometimes it's a color that sells the same week it arrives, or a plug-in hybrid configured a particular way. The Build My Vehicle form above lets you tell our sales team exactly what you're after, so we can track it down, arrange a dealer trade, or place a factory order on your behalf.

There's no cost and no obligation to submit a request. Someone from our sales team at 1045 N. Central Ave in Fairborn reads every submission and follows up with what's actually available, what it costs, and how long it would take to get.

How the Build Process Works

The form is short on purpose. Here's what happens with the information you give us:

  1. Pick your model year and model. Let us know whether you want a current model year vehicle or a newly released one. Availability differs quite a bit between the two.
  2. Choose a trim. Trim level drives most of what a Mitsubishi comes with. Drivetrain, seating configuration, technology, and available option groups are all tied to it, which makes this the most important field on the form.
  3. Note your color preference. List a first choice and, if you're flexible, a second. Being open on paint and interior color is usually the fastest way to shorten your wait.
  4. Add options and notes. Use the notes field for accessories, packages, a target monthly payment, a trade-in you plan to use, or a date you need the vehicle by.
  5. We search and respond. Our team checks our own incoming allocation first, then looks outside the store for a match, then talks through a factory order if that turns out to be the better route.

Understanding Availability Limits

Configuring a vehicle isn't the same as ordering off a menu where everything is possible. A few realities shape what we can actually deliver:

  • Options are bundled into trims. Manufacturers group features into packages instead of selling them one at a time. A feature you want may only exist on a higher trim, which changes the price.
  • Not every color pairs with every interior. Exterior and interior combinations are restricted by the factory, and some pairings simply aren't built.
  • Production runs on a schedule. Factories build specific configurations during specific windows. If the build window for the vehicle you want has already closed for that model year, locating one is usually the only path left.
  • Dealers receive allocation, not unlimited supply. Each store gets a share of production based on sales history and region. High demand configurations, plug-in hybrids especially, tend to be spoken for before they arrive.
  • Accessories can often be added here. Items like all-weather floor liners, roof racks, tow hitches, and splash guards don't have to come from the factory. We can install many accessories at our Fairborn location after delivery.

We'd rather tell you up front that a configuration isn't buildable than let you wait on something that's never going to arrive. If your request isn't possible as written, we'll explain why and lay out the closest realistic alternatives.

Locating a Vehicle vs. Ordering One

There's more than one way to get a vehicle we don't currently have in stock, and each suits a different situation.

Dealer Locate or Trade

If a vehicle matching your build already exists at another store or is in transit, we can often work out a trade to bring it here. This is the faster option, and usually the right call when you need something soon or when your must-have list is short. Timing depends on distance and on whether the other dealer is willing to trade, so we'll confirm before we make any promises.

Factory Order

If nothing close exists, we can place an order for a vehicle built to your specification. You get the trim, color, and equipment you actually asked for instead of settling for close enough. The tradeoff is time. Factory orders depend on production scheduling and transport, and the wait is measured in weeks or months rather than days. We'll give you a realistic window before you commit to anything.

Incoming Inventory

There's a third possibility worth asking about. Vehicles already allocated to us and on their way can often be claimed before they ever reach the lot. If something in our pipeline matches your build, that's typically the quickest path of all.

Mitsubishi Models You Can Configure

You can submit a request for any current Mitsubishi model, including:

  • Mitsubishi Outlander for shoppers who want a three-row midsize SUV with available all-wheel drive
  • Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for drivers who want electric range for the daily commute with gas backup for longer trips
  • Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for a smaller, more affordable crossover
  • Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for a compact SUV with a sportier profile and standard all-wheel drive

Still deciding between models? Say so in the notes. We'd rather walk you through two configurations side by side than have you guess at which one fits. You're also welcome to browse our new Mitsubishi inventory first and see what's on the ground today.

Tips for a Faster, More Useful Response

  • Rank your priorities. Tell us which items are non-negotiable and which are nice to have.
  • Give a second color choice if you have one.
  • Mention your timeline. Needing a vehicle in two weeks leads to a very different plan than being willing to wait three months.
  • Tell us about a trade-in. It affects your numbers, and we can start the appraisal in parallel.
  • Note if you qualify for a program such as military, first responder, or recent college graduate offers.
  • Include the best time and method to reach you so we're not playing phone tag.

Handle Financing and Your Trade While You Wait

Waiting on a build is a good time to get the rest of the deal sorted out. You can apply for financing so your approval is ready when the vehicle arrives, and you can value your trade to see where you stand on equity. Our finance team works with several lenders and can walk you through lease versus purchase before you decide how to structure the order.

Common Questions About Building a Vehicle

Does submitting this form cost anything or commit me to a purchase?

No. It's a request for information. Nothing is binding until you review a specific vehicle and agree to terms in writing.

How long does a factory order take?

It varies by model, configuration, and current production and transport conditions. Because those timelines shift, we'll give you an estimate based on what we're seeing when you order rather than a fixed promise we can't control.

Is a deposit required to order a vehicle?

Deposit requirements depend on the vehicle and the situation. Your sales consultant will tell you clearly whether one is needed, and what the terms are, before anything is collected.

Can I still use manufacturer incentives on an ordered vehicle?

Incentives change monthly and are generally applied based on the programs in effect when the vehicle is delivered, not when it's ordered. We track that for you and let you know what applies. Current offers are listed on our new vehicle specials page.

What if the exact build I want isn't available?

We'll tell you which part of the request is the constraint and show you the closest options, whether that means a different trim, a different color, or adding an accessory after delivery instead of ordering it from the factory.

Can I order a Mitsubishi Mirage?

No. Mitsubishi ended production of the Mirage and Mirage G4 for the US market after the 2024 model year, so there's nothing to order from the factory. If you're after an affordable Mitsubishi, the Outlander Sport is the entry point in the current lineup, and we'd also point you toward our pre-owned inventory. Submit the form anyway and we'll tell you what we can find.

Do I have to live near Fairborn to order through your dealership?

No. We work with customers across the Dayton area and beyond, including Beavercreek, Huber Heights, Xenia, Kettering, Springfield, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Much of the process can be handled by phone and email before you ever come in.
