Most people shopping this page are choosing between two things: how much room they need, and which powertrain fits how they actually drive.
What You'll Find in Our New Inventory
Mitsubishi builds four models for the U.S. market right now, and all four are crossovers or SUVs. There's no sedan or hatchback in the current lineup, so if you came here looking for a car, the closest equivalents on our lot are the Outlander Sport and Eclipse Cross. Seating runs from five up to seven, drivetrains range from front-wheel drive to Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control, and powertrains cover gas, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid.
Choosing a Powertrain
This is where the real decision usually happens, and it matters more to your monthly costs than trim level does.
- Gas. The Outlander Sport and Eclipse Cross run conventional gas engines. Simplest option, lowest entry price, nothing to plug in. The Outlander Sport is EPA-rated at 23 city and 29 highway on most trims.
- Mild hybrid. New this year on the Outlander. A small electric assist supports the 1.5-liter turbo engine, so you get better response off the line without changing how you fuel up. EPA estimates land at 26 city and 31 highway with front-wheel drive, 26 and 30 with all-wheel drive.
- Plug-in hybrid. The Outlander PHEV covers up to 45 miles on electricity alone, then runs as a hybrid for a combined 420 miles of range. If your daily driving stays inside that electric window, you'll fill the tank rarely. If you tow a camper to Caesar Creek on weekends, you still have a gas engine.
- Fully electric. Not here yet. The Eclipse Sportback arrives as a 2027 model and will be Mitsubishi's first EV in this market in years.
Compare the Current Models
| Model | Seats | Powertrain | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outlander Sport | 5 | Gas, AWC standard | First cars, commuters, tight budgets |
| Eclipse Cross | 5 | Gas, S-AWC standard | Compact size with winter traction |
| Outlander | 7 | 1.5L turbo mild hybrid | Families needing a third row |
| Outlander PHEV | 7 | Plug-in hybrid, S-AWC | Short commutes, long road trips |
The 2026 Outlander saw the biggest changes this year: the new turbocharged 1.5-liter making 177 horsepower, a new LE trim between ES and SE, an SEL Black Edition at the top, and the return of Ralliart. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims with S-AWC optional, though Ralliart and Trail Edition include all-wheel drive either way. The Outlander PHEV got a serious mid-cycle update rather than a new paint code, adding a larger drive battery, a quieter redesigned interior, heated and cooled front seats and a Yamaha audio system sold only in the U.S. On the Outlander Sport, the 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard now instead of an upgrade. Eclipse Cross changes are minor, mainly hood badging on SEL models.
Not Seeing It Above?
Our inventory turns over, and there's usually a lag between a vehicle selling and the listing coming down. If the trim or color you want isn't showing, build the vehicle you're after and we'll work on locating it or ordering it. Worth checking featured new vehicles too, since those move fastest.
One model we get asked about regularly: Mitsubishi built the Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan through 2024 and then discontinued both, so we can't order one new. If that's what brought you here, try our pre-owned inventory or the vehicles priced under $20,000.
